Register as PBFSA Breeder

As a Registered PBFSA Breeder, you pledge to only breed for the betterment and improvement of the breed. The health and good temperament of the sire, dam and puppies is always your first priority.

Requirements to become a Breeder with the PBFSA:

Sire

  • Vaccinations need to be fully up to date
  • Deworming every 3 months
  • Microchipped
  • Sire are not allowed to breed before the age of 18months
  • Aptitude Test needs to be performed to establish if Sire is good breeding material
  • Sire needs to be Registered by the ADBA / Canine SA
  • Sire needs to undergo a full health check prior to breeding

Dam 

  • Vaccinations need to be fully up to date
  • Deworming every 3 months
  • Microchipped
  • Dam are not allowed to breed before the age of 24 months
  • Aptitude Test need to be performed to establish whether dam is a good breeding dog temperament wise
  • Dam needs to be registered by the ADBA / Canine SA
  • Dam needs to undergo a full health check prior to breeding( there should be no health issues in the history of the dog for example hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia)
  • Dam needs to be on a special diet during pregnancy Dam may only become pregnant every third heat cycle after 24 months

Puppies 

  • Puppies need to be fully vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed prior to going to their new approved homes
  • Puppies need to undergo rigorous aptitude testing to establish their strong and weak points and to put them in the right type of home
  • Puppies are only allowed to leave their mom at the age of 7 weeks
  • Puppies need to be leash trained at the time when they leave home
  • Puppies need to be able to eat puppy pellets before going to their new approved homes
  • Puppies are not allowed to be breed with without written consent from the Breeder 

The PBFSA Breeder should ultimately sign a contract with each new owner before the dogs leave his/her care.
